Lok Sabha polls: Yadav clan casts voice in UP's Safai
AGRA: Though the elections on Tuesday were held for Mainpuri, it was Safai that grabbed all the media attention thanks to the UP’s most influential political Yadav family casting its vote in at Abhinav School.
Saifai comes under Jaswantnagar assembly constituency (part of Mainpuri LS constituency), from where the Yadav family hails.
Samajwadi Party founder and candidate from Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency Mulayam Singh Yadav, who is contesting for the fifth consecutive term reached, Saifai to cast his vote. He was accompanied by his wife Sadhna Gupta, son and party chief Akhilesh Yadav and daughter-in-laws, Dimple and Aparna.
Samajwadi Party’s general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav, brother of MSY, was the first to arrive at polling booth in Saifai to cast his vote. After casting his vote, he told media that BJP will be out from the Centre after this elections. He, however, refused to comment on a question if Mayawati should be the PM.
Other members of the family, including MSY’s elder brother Abhayram Yadav, sitting MP from Mainpuri, Tej Pratap Yadav and sitting MP from Firozabad Akshay Yadav. also cast their vote.
MSY’s estranged brother Shivpal Yadav, who formed his own political party Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia), reached Etawah in the evening to cast his vote. He confidently said that Netaji will win from Mainpuri with huge margin.
Shivpal claimed that his party will win 20 seats and the government at the Centre will be formed with the help of his party only.
