Jeweler escapes bid for life

CHANDIGARH: Six armed goons tried to kill a jeweller in Manimajra on Tuesday night. Even as they fired three shots, none hit Hanumat. Hanumat said in his police complaint, "Around 9.30pm, I was standing outside my jewellery shop in Manimajra when a Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza pulled over. After a few seconds, one of its six occupants started firing at me. Luckily, all the three shots he fired missed their mark and I ran inside my shop. They then sped away towards Panchkula."

After the jeweller called up the police, cops flashed the message across the city, sealed its entry and exit points and apprised their counterparts in Panchkula of the incident. A case has been registered.
