Newly built badminton hall in Ambala to hold contests
AMBALA: The sports and youth affairs deputy director Arun Kant said
that the Sports Department of the state government is organising a
state level competition at the newly constructed Badminton Hall which
has been developed at the cost of Rs 4.54 crore.
The Badminton competition, which will be starting from November 13, will be inaugurated by Haryana minister of sports and youth affairs Anil Vij. The gymnastic events will also be held at the War Heroes Memorial Stadium Gymnastics Hall.
Arun informed that nearly 600 players from all over the state will be participating in these events. In single player events, the winners will be given cash prizes of Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 for second position and Rs 2,000 for the third position.
In the team events, each player of the winning team will be given cash prize of Rs 3,000. Second placed team will get Rs 2,000, while third position will take home Rs 1,000 each.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sharandeep Kaur Brar said that Rs 1.57 crore was approved initially for the construction of the hall.
Brar added that as per the order of the sports minister, the designs of the viewers’ gallery, badminton association office, media gallery, wooden floor, VIP seating arrangement, parking, fall sealing, and porch area were also changed by the Municipal Corporation.
This place near Subhash Park was lying vacant for long and the people were littering this place.
The sports minister had ordered to remove the heaps of garbage and to construct an International level badminton hall to provide sporting facilities to the residents.
