Priyanka Gandhi Vadra takes the river route to Kashi from Allahabad

LUCKNOW: Having kicked off her election campaign on Tuesday from Gujarat, newly appointed AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is likely to storm Uttar Pradesh by sailing 100km on a steamer on the Ganga on Thursday from Allahabad to Varanasi.

Priyanka is likely to begin the journey from Allahabad, the birthplace of the first Prime Minister and her great grandfather Jawaharlal Nehru, to Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In Allahabad, Priyanka is also likely to visit the historic Anand Bhawan, the erstwhile official residence of the Nehru family and now dedicated as a museum housing the personal belongings of Nehru and his father Motilal Nehru. Highly placed sources told TOI that Priyanka is to take the route to Varanasi via Mirzapur and may also offer prayers at Maa Vindhaychal Devi temple in Mirzapur and Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi, where Modi had also prayed during his last visit.

By travelling on a steamer on the Ganga between Allahabad and Varanasi, Priyanka—who has been tasked by party president Rahul Gandhi with resurrecting the moribund party in Uttar Pradesh—would be covering half a dozen parliamentary constituencies in between.
