Those who are excluded from draft NRC can vote as poll-roll: EC names

NEW DELHI: The over 40 lakh people excluded from the draft National Register of Citizens would be allowed to cast their votes in the coming general elections if their names are there in the voters’ list, the Election Commission informed the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

EC secretary Malay Mullick informed a bench of CJI Ranjan Gogoi and Justices Deepak Gupta and Sanjiv Khanna that on the basis of exclusions in draft NRC, no names have been deleted from the voters’ list, which gets revised in January every year.
