All police sts to prepare list with 10 active fugitives

Jaipur: All police stations will have to prepare a list of 10 most active fugitives of their areas following which a comprehensive list of the wanted criminals will be finalized.
The DGP on Saturday directed that each police station give their list by January 17. The list will be filtered through DySP, SP and IG level. “The final list will be handed over to the CID-CB in Jaipur. The plan is to identify all the criminals at local to range level for better monitoring,” an official said.

Once the list at range level is finalized, the Special Operations Group (SOG) will pluck out suspects and set out on a mission to track them down. “The photos of these criminals will be displayed prominently on Rajasthan police’s website to create awareness among the masses,” the official added.

The SOG is also a nodal agency responsible for keeping a vigil over the movements of inter-state criminals and wanted history-sheeters. “The SOG’s induction into the tracking operation will infuse fresh energy. The agency has ample experience in pan-Rajasthan anti-organized crime,” the official said.

With the revision in wanted list, many new names are likely to hurtle up the ranking. DGP Kapil Garg has also issued fresh orders for revamping patrolling at beat level. “There will be a beat book for each police station during night patrolling. The book will include the details of local trouble makers, history-sheeters, and important places,” the order reads.

The beat book will be regularly revised and the entire process will begin from February 1. The Rajasthan police for long have been facing flak over inefficient police patrolling especially during night time. While the new order may increase the police visibility, the problem of lack of staff at police stations does pose a major challenge.
