The police launches free number No. For CTR-tourists

Nainital: Taking note of rising complaints of harassment and rash behaviour by tour operators against tourists visiting Corbett Tiger Reserve (CTR), the Nainital district police has issued two toll-free helpline numbers.
The two numbers—7505596161 and 9411112876 — will be available 24x7, police officials said.

According to the officials, once a person files a complaint through the toll-free numbers, a team will be assigned and would address the issue on the spot.

Senior superintendent of police of Nainital district, Sunil Kumar Meena, said, “We were getting reports of misbehaviour and overcharging by some tour operators for some time now. I hope this will help tourists who face such issues while visiting Corbett and Ramnagar.”

Ramnagar police station in-charge Ravi Kumar Saini told TOI that last year, at least two dozen matters of misbehaviour, overcharging and cheating were reported.

Welcoming the move, deputy director of the CTR, Chandrashekhar Joshi, said, “This is a welcome step by the police. It will help us to protect the wildlife as well as promote sustainable and eco-friendly tourism activities in and around the reserve.”

CTR has been witnessing heavy tourist footfall with 1,000 tourists per day ever since it was opened for safari on November 15.

The reserve opens for tourists every year from mid-November till mid-June.
