Death in the landslide Rudraprayag increases to 8, pvt firm booked
Dehradun: The death toll in Banswara landslide in Rudraprayag
district has gone up to eight after the state disaster response
team recovered the body of a 19-year-old on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Ukhimath police has registered an FIR against a private construction company, holding it responsible for the mishap at the construction site of Char Dham all-weather road.
The incharge of disaster management team, BS Rauthan, told TOI, “ We A 19-year-old labourer, who was a resident of Baramullah in Jammu and Kashmir, has been recovered from the landslide site today. And FIR against the company for negligence has been registered too.”
Police officers in Ukhimath police told TOI that the director and supervisor of the private construction firm have been booked under sections 304A (causing death by negligence), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code,”
Meanwhile, additional chief secretary of Uttarakhand, Om Prakash, has ordered a safety audit of the all-weather road construction sites to check whether the work is being done in adherence of scientific norms. The audit team will comprise of a senior geologist and a senior officer from the PWD.
