AirAsia flight delayed because the bus operators continue with a flash attack
Bengaluru: Over 150 passengers set to board AirAsia flight
I5 2678, headed to Nagpur from Bengaluru, had to face inconvenience
as the flight was delayed for close to an hour. Reason: operators
of the buses (attached to Air Asia) that ferry air passengers from
the terminal building to the flight at Kempegowda
International Airport went on a flash strike.
Though the airlines was able to ferry the first set of passengers up to the flight on time, the flash strike left about 25 others stranded after they exited the boarding gate. Many of them, including some senior citizens, were running out of patience as there was no seating arrangement and the staff had little clue about when the issue would be sorted. Some passengers were also tensed as they had to catch connecting flights ahead in the journey.
Finally, the airlines manag ement made other arrangements to take the passengers up to the flight. Owing to the delay, the flight which was scheduled to take off at 6.05am took off only at 6.50am. It landed in Nagpur around 8am.
A Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) spokesperson, however, said only one flight at KIA was delayed after a driver turned up nine minutes late.
Prathap KP (name changed), a businessman, was fuming. “How come the management was clueless about the strike? And they delayed making alternative arrangements as well,” he added.
Niranjini M (name ch anged), a network engineer who was travelling with a kid, said it was irritating for those who had boarded the flight as well. “The staff kept coming up with random reasons like bad weather to justify the delay in take off,” she said.
